Ali Ghalambor: Predicting fluid flow for improved well production
Simulation has become an important activity in various branches of science and technology and even in other fields of human endeavors. As Dr. Ali Ghalambor points out, it is an especially important process in the petroleum industry as it guides the succeeding operations which are geared toward the development of oil and natural gas wells.

Dr. Ghalambor, who has held engineering and supervisory positions in many well-known petroleum companies, has regularly updated engineers and other professionals in the industry on the latest developments in reservoir simulation or the practice of predicting the flow of fluids, such as oil, water, and gas, through the use of computer reservoir simulation models.
In the past few years, the advancements in technology and improvements in simulation software have lowered the time and reduced the resources needed to develop a model. Because of this, Dr. Ali Ghalambor and his peers Boyun Guo and Kai Sun point out in their handbook on well-productivity that reservoir simulation has become a necessity in planning for oil and gas field development wells instead of a measure reserved for situations where large investment decisions are at stake.
